Job Description:

Principal Function: To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach biblical Revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative/spiritual leadership in all areas of church life.

Qualifications:

1. The Pastor shall follow the characteristics as set forth in scripture: I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:7-9; I Corinthians 13:4-8; Galatians 5:22-26. The Pastor shall be cooperative with the Baptist Faith and Practice and in agreement with Believers Missionary Baptist Church, Articles of Faith, and Church Covenant. The Pastor should have obtained formal spiritual and Christian educational training commensurate with graduation from an accredited Seminary or a Bible College. The Pastor shall also possess administrative and leadership capabilities commensurate with those necessary to shepherd a Church.

2. Must be an ordained Baptist minister

3. Must have a philosophy of growth for the church and a vision for such.

4. Must have considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of the Missionary Baptist church administrative policies, budget and finance, and abide by such.

5. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.

6. Must be conversant with Robert’s Rules of Order.

7. Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities:

1. Shall be in charge of the welfare and oversight of the church; shall be an ex-officio member of all organizations, departments, and committees.

2. Shall be the moderator of church business meetings; the Pastor may call a special meeting of the deacons or any committee according to procedures which are set forth in the Constitution and By-laws.

3. Conduct religious services stated and on special occasions; administer the ordinances; minister to the spiritual needs of the church and community.

4. Shall have special charge of the pulpit ministry of the church and shall, in cooperation with the Deacons, provide for pulpit ministry when the Pastor is absent.

5. Shall train and lead the Deacons in a program of family ministries.

6. Arrange, with the concurrence of the Deacons, for Ministers to assist in the Revival meetings and work to assist in other special responsibilities to win the lost to Christ, to minister to the spiritual needs of the members of the congregation, and through prayer and study to render effective preaching and Pastoral Ministries.

7. Inform the guest Pastor of the church’s protocol of service.

8. Shall meet and discuss a budget with the finance committee (i.e. Trustee Chairperson, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Assistants).

9. Can appoint special committees and/or new offices as the Pastor deems necessary.

10. Shall teach or designate a substitute to teach the New Members class.

11. Matters related to Sickness, resignation, death, discipline and dismissal of the Pastor will be included in the separate Pastoral Agreement and in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the Church.
